Things I’ve learned over the last year:

These are five life lessons that I have learned over the past year:

  1. Life is as simple as you make it:

Believe it or not, life is quite simple! Yes it is. You are the one who make it complicated. You overthink and overanalyze the things that happen around you, which make you view life in a different way that it was supposed to be viewed. It’s true that sometimes life can be a big bummer and causes you to feel like it’s a horrible place to live in, but as long as you simplify it and look at the bright side of any given situation; you’ll be much happier!

  1. Your family is the best gift in life, love them and be grateful:

Your family is always there for you; they love you, take care of you, and help you carry on when things go wrong. They’re always there for you even when your best friends aren’t. Sometimes it may feel like your family is against you, and they’re doing what they’re doing to make your life a living hell, but in reality, they’re just trying to protect you and guide you to the right path, you might not understand it now, but you will later in the future or when you have kids of your own, and that’s why you need to love your family and show them the appreciation they deserve.

  1. Forgive quickly:

We’re humans, we make mistakes, a lot of them, and we want others to forgive us, but in order to get forgiveness, you also have to give it. Forgive the people who once made a mistake that affected you. Forgive them because you have made a mistake and someone else did forgive you, and now it’s your turn, and if you say you never made a mistake towards anyone, you will one day, and when that happens, you’ll probably want them to forgive you too!

  1. Be kind to one another:

And why should you be kind to other people? Because if you want others to be kind to you, you have to be kind to them as well. You never know what the other person might be going through, and you never know how a smile can make their day much better and easier. Make someone smile, be polite and friendly, and treat people well regardless of who they are or their position in life. This includes knowing when to say thank you, please, and I’m sorry.

  1. Say the truth:

NEVER EVER lie to someone else! Even if you realize it or not, lies have a short life time. Lies will get you nowhere and will make your life hard and complicated. The truth could be hard, and sometimes it could have many negative impacts, but let’s face it, no one likes to be lied to, we all want to know the truth. Truth will set you free even if you get in trouble for saying it. And remember that the truth will always come out in the end even if you said it or not.

  1. Over the past year I truly learned each moment is a gift spent with those who are close to you. I have broadened my prayers and think outside the box. Sometimes we get so caught up in life, being in it, we miss the big picture.

So I like to say, I step outside myself sometimes and look at life like a movie.
