Killing of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile #blacklivesmatter

Let me start off by saying: I am so sick and tired of waking up in the morning to see that more black individuals were KILLED by police officers, whose job is to protect people rather than shoot them for unjust reasons that relate to their skin color.

On July 6 2016, Alton Sterling was shot multiple times after police officers stated that he had a weapon. As clearly seen in the video published, no weapon was seen, but after the two police officers shot him, one of them kneeled down and got something out of his pocket. Whatever he got out of his pocket was in my opinion small and couldn’t have been a weapon. After talking to one of the witnesses, he said he might have seen a weapon, but Sterling was not trying to take it out.

This killing sickens me because Sterling was just a normal guy trying to sell CD’s, and although it is illegal, he DID NOT DESERVE TO BE KILLED FOR IT. He had a family who cared, loved, and depended on him. His children are going to have to live with the fact that their father was killed for no reason other than his skin color, and that is something no one deserves to live with.

On July 7 2016, Philando Castile, a school cafeteria worker, was shot three times for an unjust, unapparent reason. He was stopped for a broken taillight, the officer asked him for his licence, so Castile let him know that he had a shotgun with him, and that is when the officer shot him. In the 10-minute video taken by his girlfriend, the officer clearly knows that he was guilty because he was crying, swearing and trying to make excuses. It sucks knowing how there was a 4-year-old in the car as the events unfolded and how it will forever scar that little girl.

I can’t even begin to imagine how black people feel after all the unjust killings that is happening. I don’t know how it feels to be always scared from the people who were hired to literally protect them. And I don’t know how long it will take before this messed up justice system starts to change, but I know for a fact that if nothing changes, horrible things will be coming in the system’s way.

It’s not up to you

Its not up to you to decide who should live and who should not. You’re here to live your own life , not everyone else’s.

Its not up to you to decide who’s pretty and who’s ugly. People weren’t born to look all the same and fall under some human constructed standard.

It’s not up to you to decide weather someone is smart or not. Before you judge other people’s intelligence, you should take a good look around you and realize that what you know Is a small fraction of the amount of knowledge excised.

It’s not up to you to decide who’s a good person or who isn’t. You yourself aren’t perfect so don’t go around judging other people’s imperfections.

Its not up to you to decide who’s worth it or not

Its not up to you to decide anything;

Your only job here is to live your own life and make decisions that concern you.

Your only job here is to be better than the person you were yesterday and that only starts once you stop deciding how everyone should live thier life

Realization

Life can be really funny sometimes,

You’d be walking down the street, and ONE thing, only one thing can happen and flip your life around.

One thing could make you a better person, while one other thing could make you a bitter person.

The difference between happiness and sadness could literally be hours away!!!

Every day, you wake up in the morning, having no idea what to expect,

Sometimes your day could go softly and be very usual like every other day,

While other days, major things could happen, and could even impact your whole being.

You never really know what is going to happen next – if you would get fired, get hired, get accepted in the university of your dreams, winning the lottery, the death of someone close to you, or even your own death-.

Personally, this realization helped me live in the moment.

It helped me appreciate every minute, even every second of my life.

It helped me see the world in a new way – new perspective-

Because you never really know if this moment will happen again in your life,

You never really know how the situation that you’re in right now will turn out.

What does this realization help you see?
